Surroundings of Kromeriz
Here is brief review of places which are worth seeing.
- Bunc and Brdo
- On the border between Kroměříž region and Uherské Hradiště region there is tourist centre Bunč. In the height of 479 m we can find not only a wooden bell tower from the fist half of the twentieth century but also a popular well. The view-tower is the first stone tower and is 23,90 m heigh. It is situated on the place of historical wooden view-tower which was 20 m heigh. It is possible to see Roháče Mountains, Malá Fatra, Jeseníky Mountains, Beskydy Mountains, Vsetín Mountains, Malé and Bílé Karpaty.
- St. Hostyn
- Characteristic and visible silhouette of a mountain and a church – that is St. Hostýn. The basilica of Assumption of Mary Virgin is the most significant church object of St. Hostýn. Here we can find Calvary with eight stands situated to view-tower finished by the decorated crucifix . On the north side we can see the view-tower and a wind power station which are 736 m heigh.
- Velehrad
- Velehrad is a place where traditional pilgrimage, conference and St. Cyril and Metoděj celebration take place. Velehrad is an important church place with great sights. In 2008 Basilica in Baroque style and the surrounding were declared National Historic Site.
- Oudoor museum Rymice
- The village lies three km far from Holešov and it is a kind of popular architecture. Earthen houses, covered thatch – with the room, hall and upstairs room. The outdoor museum includes the windmill which is 11 m heigh. Next to the museum there is a rath of the 16th century. There is service yard, storehouse, administrative house, garden nursery and garden.
- Holesov
- A small town on the border between Haná region and Valašsko region where you can find a lot of sights. A castle in early Baroque style with its castle garden in French style. There is a synagogue in Polish style with a Jewish cemetery and a ritual hall. The church of Assumption of the Blassed Virgin Mary is also worth seeing, as well as the Black Chapel.
- Windmill in Velke Tesany
- In a decent village on the hilly countryside there is a windmill. It is a wooden doble-floor building with a saddle roof hung on a beam construction. So called „šalanda“ – a room for the millers belongs to the windmill.
- Chropyne Castle
- Present appearance of this castle comes from 1701-1703 when the building was rebuilt by the bishop Karel Lotrinský. Both historical halls were changed into present appearance in 1850s. Glamorizing correction, waffle floor, weapons exhibition from Thirty years´ war and Turkish war.
